The Times of India “Ford’s sizzling Gurkha cigar surprise “

Friday, June 26th, 2009

American actor Harrison Ford got the surprise of his life when he was presented with a cigar by two hotties, who had sneaked past security on the set of his movie, Morning Glory.

Ford, 66, was in-between takes when the two girls wearing black tank tops, shorts and high-heels walked up to him on the set at 43rd Street and Sixth Avenue.

“He was in between takes with Rachel McAdams when these girls came right out of the blue to present him with a 750 dollars Gurkha cigar,” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

“He got a big kick out of it and thanked them,” the source added.

It was later discovered that the two girls were promoting a service called delivery.com.

Harrison Ford

HARRISON Ford got pulled into a wacky publicity stunt the other day when two hotties in black tank tops, shorts and high-heels sneaked past security on the set of his movie, “Morning Glory,” at 43rd Street and Sixth Avenue. “He was in between takes with Rachel McAdams when these girls came right out of the blue to present him with a $750 Gurkha cigar,” a spy told us. “He got a big kick out of it and thanked them.” Turns out the generous cuties were promoting a service called delivery.com.

New York Magazine “Johnny Depp is a Really Good Tipper”

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp left a $4,000 tip at Gibsons Bar and Steakhouse in Chicago following a screening of Public Enemies with his co-star, Marion Cotillard. Facebook to the rescue: Some lady in Montreal found the 11-year-old British kid that Megan Fox brushed aside, whose name is Harvii, on her list of friends, and now he’ll get a photograph with the sultry star. While in Atlanta to cheer on A-Rod against the Braves, Kate Hudson opted to root for Rodriguez from the bar of Morton’s Steakhouse. Angelina Jolie supposedly told Jennifer Aniston to “back off” after Aniston sent Brad Pitt some “motivational texts.” And some fun-loving New Orleans residents have started a “Brad Pitt for Mayor“movement (Hey, if Arnold can be governor … ).

According to C. David Heymann’s upcoming book, Bobby and Jackie: A Love Story, Jackie Kennedy and Marlon Brando shared two steamy nights together. But Kennedy experts are denying his claims. Caroline Kennedy has been made into a cartoon character for the comic book Female Force: Caroline Kennedy. Anna Wintour schmoozed White House social secretary Desirée Rogers at Monkey Bar. And, she’s reportedly ordered her Vogue underlings to secretly monitor comments on September Issue’s (her documentary’s) Facebook page. Two scantily clad PR girls sneaked onto the set of Harrison Ford’s upcoming flick to present him with a $750 Gurkha cigar. Billy Joel has been invited to participate in Long Island’s first ever Divorce Expo. And Joy Behar says she doesn’t have time to get married, despite her recent announcement.

Katy Perry posted a naked picture of herself on her Twitter page (in a bath, with a pizza covering certain areas), saying that “food is … luring me with sexual seduction.” Then she posted a digitally enhanced photo of herself as a chubby girl. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was detained for several hours at Charles de Gaulle after punching a waiter in a drunken airport-bar scuffle. Busta Rhymes caused a scene outside Pink Elephant when he had to wait to get in. Russell Simmons and French “actress-model” Noémie Lenoir were “making out like teenagers” at the Gates.

Wimbledon champ Martina Navratilova has a multi-million-dollar lawsuit on her hands, thanks to a female ex-lover, who claims Navratilova married her then dumped her eight years later. Interior decorator Geoffrey Bradfield modestly promoted his new book by taking over an East 93rd Street mansion, body-painting two naked muscle men as peacocks (with appropriately placed feathers), and inviting guests to swing from chandeliers. Seth Rogen ate pasta at West Hollywood’s Il Sole. Maybe he’ll get cute and chubby again! Mario Batali and Tom Colicchio worked on their air-guitar skills during Aspen’s Food & Wine Magazine Classic.

Maxim “Upgrade Father’s Day: Stick This In Your Mouth and Smoke It”

Father's Day

Father’s Day is only a few days away, but that won’t stop you from waiting until the last second to find him a craptastic present of mediocrity. Fortunately, we’re here to help.

Here’s What You Know: Dad’s time for fooling around with random women has long past and he has since found a new love: Being a gentleman. He spends his vacation time traveling around vineyards across the country getting a taste of the latest wines to hit the market and likes to relax, perhaps during another episode of 60 Minutes, puffing on a finely-rolled cigar.

What Your Lazy Ass Would Typically Do: With no clue of what makes cigars good or bad, you go to the corner deli and pick up a few Phillie blunts. You splurge, handing the cashier 25 cents more for the fancy-sounding greene de menthe flavor. Dad, a cigar connoisseur, looks at you with contempt upon receiving his “gift.”

Upgrade: We already showed you how to smoke like a man, but with these cigars, you’ll be smoking like a world-famous celebrity. Alex Rodriguez (pictured), Matt Lauer, Lindsay Lohan, Matthew McConaughey, and Dennis Quaid all light up with Gurkha, whose cigars range from the affordable Grand Reserve series to the ultra-exclusive His Majesty Reserve (HMR). While the cigars themselves have been rated highly by cigar critics around the world, the exotic packaging is sure to make dad feel like he’s king. Who wouldn’t want a present that looks like it has treasure inside of it?

Only 800 boxes of this illustrious brand of cigars will be released.

There are very few more relaxing and enjoyable activities in the summertime than sitting outside with a group of close friends, smoking an assortment of high quality cigars. Examier.com “Gurkha Grand Reserve Cigar Review”

Monday, April 13th, 2009

After writing last weeks column on the Clinton/Lewinsky cigar, I had to go out and try it for myself.

Honestly, I didn’t expect too much out of the cigar, despite enjoying all of the Gurkha cigars that I have had in the past.  I just assumed the hype wouldn’t hold up to the actual smoke.

I was wrong – it did.

The second I lit up, I could tell this was a premium cigar that was going to go the distance. It was a great medium bodied smoke, with a lovely Connecticut shade wrapper that led to a nice soft almost velvety finish.  The Honduran tobacco was very smooth and creamy and didn’t need a full meal before smoking – this is almost the perfect cigar to finish the night with.

At twelve dollars a stick, this is an excellent cigar to give as a gift even if the smoker hasn’t had a lot of experience with cigars.  The cigar is actually infused with cognac which gives it an even more enjoyable and approachable taste for the regular and one off smoker alike.

I had consistent notes on this cigar after smoking it twice.

Light up the comments section and let me know your thoughts.

15 Minutes Magazine “A Cigar To Die For”

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY celebrated the birth of a baby boy by firing up a Gurkha Cigar. We hear that Brad Pitt and Adrien Brody are also fans of this high-end luxury stogie.

Kaizad “Kaiser” Hansotia bought the brand for a mere $149 on a trip to India in the late ‘80s. He sparked new life into the Gurkha brand. With experience in the premium watch business, Kaiser created boxes that enhanced the cigar. The limited edition boxes are as prized as the rare cigars. Last year only five camel-bone Black Dragon boxes of 100 ultra premium cigars were produced and sold for $115,000. A less expensive version costs $250 a box.
